The media in the Capital Region

Is much better at covering pot holes and kids gone wild then covering some pieces of SUBSTANCE.. Oh say the "Art Scene" ... There are TONS of openings but the cover a VERY SELECT FEW... And not much about the event at that.. Metroland covers the Berkshires... REALLY???? They are based in Albany... Cover The Cap region and then Berkshires!!!! I am NOT GOING TO THE BERKSHIRES... I prefer to SUPPORT LOCAL ART AND ARTISTS!!!!! Times Union doesnt have a Arts Writer... Tim Cahill used to do studio visits and try and cover MOST openings..its very sad.. You have to be sensationalized to get a story.. Not talent or respect... Community or Caring .. Not helping Artists get a leg up... Or just making Arts and Artist SPECIAL!!!

Objections from Customers

I hear all the time from people in my store their objections to buying more Art... So you have the same pieces hanging on your walls because they fit your space or decor??? Do you think Van Gogh painted Starry Night hoping his wife found the perfect spot for it??? Or if it went better in the living room or dining room? Did she say " ohhh I have too much stuff" and on that too much stuff note... Do you buy furniture ONCE?... carpets ? Paint? People RE-DO everything... Art should be the same... You want to keep galleries and artists in business, so you have a place to go that can help you make a new purchase...to Get a NEW LOOK... You need to continually purchase from them.

Pieces of Art can be stored.easily and newer ones put up.... Or Passed on to family members and friends.. .. No one wants your old dishwasher or carpet...If everyone keeps this idea Art is "STUFF" we wont have ANYTHING TO HAND OFF TO GENERATIONS..what if this attitude was present for Michelangelo's David??? Too much "STUFF"....We need to as a society STOP COLLECTING GADGETS they are obsolete in 1 year!!! and START PUTTING YOUR MONEY INTO ART that lasts generations!!! Make your choices for Gifts --ART!! Make your new look ---a piece of ART!! You never know when that Artist is the next Van Gogh...

Art in the Capital Region

I go to many different places and always talk Art where I go with who I meet. It seems that the Capital Region has a amazing art scene but doesn't appreciate it. I have had people from out of the area buy more Art then people HERE....??? I am trying to help support over 60 different Artists.. I am working 6 days a week and yet I cant mange to make 2000 a month to support my biz... WHAT IS WRONG IN THE CAPITAL REGION... 2000 is NOTHING to support... So very sad

New Show New Work ALWAYS something happening at Art!

There is only 2 weeks left to see the AMAZING Show of 12 artists and 80 pieces I call "The Up and Coming Show!" This show is so amazing it should go on tour across the country. The prices are so affordable and the ART IS UNSURPASSED! I don't think you will want to miss this one...
Stop in Wed-Sunday and see art like you have never seen before. Why go to BOX store to but things when you can come into a store that has a heart and a soul....  who CARES about what they sell... That Knows each artist personally...And CARES about the customer...YOU!!!!  Wants to do good by exposing artists to the public and having a place that the public can go to shop and get something different..something made from an artist's heart; to hopefully LAUNCH an artist nationally!!! A store that wants to do GOOD in the world. Bring something into everyone everyday life even if it is a handmade candle or an amazing painting that generations will cherish. So please THINK.. about all this when you decide to shop... MAKE a DIFFERENCE in many peoples lives as well as a community!

Wedding gifts and jewelry for Bride's Maids!!

Everyone gives money... Isnt that a bit trite? I know MOST everyone you talk to buys household stuff they either sell on Craigs List or stick in a closet or cupboard.. Why not give a gift Certificate at a gallery.. Something they will cherish a lifetime and KEEP!!
A gift cert takes away the pressure of what is their taste and a shopping experience for them that is personal, different and a gift that lasts forever... You will always be remembered as giving them the give of ART!

I recently went to MassMoca... If you haven't been Do GO! It is really fun, exciting, INSPIRING, and just an all around fun time. If you fear not understanding it go anyway and decide this....: If I don't understand it the artist missed their mark with me, and that is good, it means you do get it"... if you don't like it... you get it... and of course if you take away anything... that is what Art does.... It hits an emotion.. So On to the SUBJECT...lol
That Thursday is NORTH Adams arts walk...it is FILLED with wonderful things... please make a plan to go. The shops and galleries are very nice and the Restaurants... can't miss no matter WHAT you choose!!! I do however have a couple of Favs...(it's why I write this...haha) The Public.. wonderful Beer... Wait Staff... and Food!!!! Cool looking Relaxed. The Hub... Hummus to die for... and I make an AMAZING Hummus... a PERFECT Margherita and the Bartender play 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon... We had a BLAST!!! soooooo GO!!! I am if you want a ride!!!
